ST LOUIS – Science Coach is joining NASCAR, The NASCAR Foundation, Speedway Motorsports and Speedway Children’s Charities for the first-ever NASCAR Day Giveathon, an online giving campaign to raise $750,000 in charitable funds for local charities in all 50 states.

As a St. Louis nonprofit organization participating in the Giveathon, Science Coach has its own online
Giveathon page for collecting donations

The racing industry needs a new generation of STEM professionals and Science Coach has 89% of our participants continue into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) careers. Since the 6th-12th grade students across the US choose research topics in which they have a personal interest. For example, Vito Signaigo, a 12th Grade Liberty, High School Science Coach program participant researched how to create biofuel derived from the invasive species of bush honeysuckle leaves. “Every $800 raised provides one classroom with research supplies for one school year,” said Jill Ott, Executive Director and Co-Founder, Science Coach-St. Louis Corporation. “We have over 260 Science Coach students in city, suburban and rural schools in Missouri, Illinois, and New Mexico. We genuinely appreciate the NASCAR fans donations’ that support science students’ abilities to change the world with their innovations.”

The Giveathon, which runs from Tuesday, May 16 at 5:00 p.m. ET until 8:00 p.m. ET on Friday, May 19, features bonus grants every hour during the 75-hour window and matching gift donations for nonprofit organizations on May 19, as well as T-shirts and memorabilia items as incentives for donors.
